A Party Room and Birthday Cake – How To Plan a Party
Parties are all about bringing friends and family together for a fun time, and it is important to remember this when planning a party as you can easily get stressed out about all the details. Remembering that the idea is to enjoy yourself with those around you will help to take the stress out of the event and its planning. After all, no one wants to make a decision about a party when they’re in a stressed mindset. Having a positive and fun outlook on everything is sure to make it the best party you have ever had!
One thing that you can do to ensure that the planning is stress-free is to make a checklist and go through each point in a methodological way. Doing this will make sure that you do everything you need to do without forgetting anything at the last minute. You don’t need a lot of experience in party planning, just a simple written checklist will do! Here are some key points that you should note down on your checklist.
Decorations
What’s a party without decorations? They help to set the correct atmosphere for the event and really make the party come alive. Everyone loves seeing a venue all set up with balloons, confetti and banners as they really help to contribute to the fun and uplifting mood of everyone present.
There are many different decorations available out there on the market today and costs can quickly become expensive. As well as this, the majority of the decorations will all end up in the bin at the end of the night anyway unless you plan to reuse, recycle or donate them. Many party planners will recommend that you try hiring decorations rather than buying them, as this is eco-friendly and better for your budget. Another way you can circumvent the high costs of venue decorations is by making your own DIY decorations. Of course, you can’t make your own balloons, but things like confetti and banners can certainly be made at home.
For example, if you are set on having confetti at your party then you can easily make your own eco-friendly confetti by cutting spare craft paper into small pieces. You can also use spare paper to create bunting and banners by cutting them into the appropriate size and either printing or hand painting a design on them.
Using recycled materials for your decorations is also a great way to ensure that your party is as environmentally friendly as possible as well. Traditionally, confetti is made out of small pieces of non-recyclable plastic, so when the hundreds of pieces of this plastic confetti get thrown and left in the party room, it will be very damaging for the environment as it will all be collected and thrown into the bin and sent to the landfill. Glitter as well also causes negative side effects for the environment as it contains microplastic. It can find its way into water systems, lakes and rivers and will take many years to degrade. Paper is the best material for making confetti without using plastic, but you can also use organic things like dried petals, flowerheads and even dried leaves.
Food
Due to guests staying at parties for several hours, it is likely that they will get hungry at some point. Making sure that you have plenty of food is super important as you wouldn’t want your guests to go hungry and end up leaving early in search of their dinner. Although, on the other hand, be sure not to go too overboard as you also won’t want to waste food, which is also bad for the environment, and you also won’t want to waste your money.
As well as making sure you have the correct amount of food, you should also make sure that you have the correct type of food for guests who have different dietary requirements. From vegan food to gluten-free food, you will want to make sure that no guest is left out.
Luckily, you don’t have to worry about catering for these different requirements yourself. Nowadays, supermarkets and high end caterers alike stock a wide variety of different foods for different requirements and so you can be sure to create a wonderful spread.
